A football goal that sees goal after goal. A playhouse that becomes the setting for new adventures. When developing our outdoor toys, we consider the raw materials we use, the packaging and the options for maintenance and repair. Here you can read about the decisions we make and find specific product examples. Materials and options vary by product.
Material choices start with design
Making a product requires raw materials. That's why, during development, we assess not only what a material needs to do but also the environmental impact of choosing it. We use tools to assess designs and materials, taking quality, lifespan and safety into account too.
We look at whether a renewable or recycled material could be a suitable alternative. It needs to work for its intended use without compromising product quality or safety. This doesn't mean every EXIT product contains renewable or recycled materials: the choice depends on the product and the requirements the material needs to meet.
For wooden products, the origin of the wood matters too. The wood in the EXIT AquaFlow water track 400 is FSC® certified (FSC 100%, SCS-COC-007799). This certification applies to the wood from responsibly managed forests, not to the water track as a whole.
Considering packaging materials
We also make decisions about the materials and design of our packaging. Our approach to packaging encourages the use of FSC® certified cardboard, limits the use of printing ink and aims to avoid EPS, also known as expanded polystyrene. We apply these principles when developing or changing packaging.
We also consider packaging size and weight with efficient transport in mind. The packaging still needs to protect the product. The materials and design needed for that vary by product.
Materials you can separate
When choosing materials, we also consider the use of monomaterials and whether parts can be separated. Monomaterials consist of a single type of material. At the end of a product's useful life, you may need to dispose of different materials separately. Which parts you can remove and how to dispose of the materials depend on the product and local collection rules.
EXIT Scala aluminium football goals use monomaterials. Their parts can be replaced individually, and the football goals are PVC-free. Using monomaterials does not guarantee that the materials will actually be recycled. That depends on how they are collected and processed.

Replace a part, keep playing
As well as choosing materials, it's important to keep using a product. Good maintenance and replaceable parts can help. If a part is worn or damaged, you don't always need to replace the whole product. Which parts can be replaced varies by product.
In our online shop, you'll find individual parts for different types of outdoor toys under Spare parts. With the right replacement part, you can keep using the rest of your outdoor toys.
Every part of the EXIT Scala aluminium football goals can be replaced. The parts remain available for at least five years after purchase. This means you can replace a worn or damaged part without buying a whole new football goal straight away.

Look after your outdoor toys
Good maintenance helps you enjoy your outdoor toys for longer. Check them regularly for wear and follow the maintenance and storage instructions in your model's manual. That way, you'll know how to look after the materials and parts.
Is a part damaged? Don't use the product again until it has been repaired and is safe to use. Unsure about maintenance or repairs? Contact our customer service team.
Dispose of materials after the last game
Can a product really no longer be used or repaired? See which materials you can separate. Ask your local council or recycling centre how to dispose of the individual parts.
Whether materials are actually recycled depends on how they are collected and processed. A design with removable parts helps with separating materials but does not guarantee that they will be recycled.
